The Georgian window is the original multi paned window which became popular in the Georgian Period 1714 -1811 and was designed to bring in light, especially in darker narrow streets. Another notable feature were the intricate glazing bars which held in the brittle handmade crown glass. A lot of the earlier Georgian windows had quarter panes to the outside edge of the windows whereas the later Georgian windows had panes which were evenly split.

Classic Georgian windows have bars running across the frame and vertically to create multiple glass panes. They were developed at this time because glass was expensive. Large panes of glass were too expensive to make hence many smaller panes were used because the window tax was only reduced towards the end of the Georgian period. I have to say I have been impressed with HARP from start to finish. I was guaranteed the best price from John at the beginning, There was no hard sell or tricks, Just simple and honest. I ordered 1 window to replace my old bay which I was advised would take 6 weeks from ordering. My window arrived slightly earlier than anticipated and was fitted without delay. The fitting team worked in a clean and tidy manner, were punctual and had a great attention to detail.
